Reading Randie Mayo's excellent sign inventory this week helped me realize what a diservice I have done by neglecting to learn this skill. There is the language of a professional in her work here.
If you are looking for a good example of how to do a good sign inventory this week I would recommend her's.
Of all the things I should be devouring in these journals, it should be the sign inventories of my classmates sign inventories. studying the wonderful poems that each of you create may be more fun and the pedagogy forums may seem more in touch with teaching, but the inventory is the area that still eludes me, and yet I know it is the best teaching and learning tool.
I resolve this week to spend more time looking through just those sections of our journals, those sign inventories, and to write at least one more sign inventory before Tuesday that I hope will show improvement. Good job Randie.
And we model that each week. Remember to inventory James's pick for Tuesday: Anthony Hecht's "The Feast of Stephen."
